Alice Yu joined CEAS as Associate Director in December, 2022. At CEAS, she manages the day-to-day operation and oversees the budget. She works closely with the three other NRCs on campus (CERCLL, CLAS, and CMES) and the Department of East Asian Studies to organize academic events and provide educational materials related to East Asian languages and culture. Alice has an M.A. in Translation and Interpretation from City University of Hong Kong. She is also a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of East Asian Studies. Her dissertation, titled "Red Nostalgia in China: (Re)Writing Socialist History in Zhiqing (Educated Youth) Literature and Cinema," studies the memory of Chinese Educated Youth and how it interplays with the social changes took place in China in the last century. She has taught courses related to history, literature, and films of China, both traditional and modern.
